Sponsoring Fraud

June 30, 2009

I read this Scientology fundraising letter for one of their front groups which includes the standard pitch for donations to keep fighting the evil psychs but I was surprised to see a shout-out to major corporate sponsors.  Do these companies know that they are forwarding Scientology’s agenda of destroying psychiatry?

Dear ____,

Summer is once again upon us and it is Ablechild’s 5th year participating in the New Canaan,  CT Chamber of Commerce Sidewalk Sale.

This year we’d like to do things a bit different and want to include our members and supporters nationwide. Typically, Patty Weathers and I sweat it out from 8 am to 5 pm setting up Ablechild’s tent, running a game for children to play for dollar donations, and holding an auction and raffle. We do this in order to keep Ablechild’s work moving forward.  The community sidewalk sale also gives Ablechild the opportunity to warn parents early by disseminating information regarding the labeling and drugging of children by schools and medical practitioners. We have continued to do this on a shoestring budget year after year. With your help and participation in the virtual sidewalk sale, together we can make an even bigger difference.  Much more funding is needed to help us reach out to more parents and children and work on ensuring their rights to full informed consent.

With that said, our plan is simple: Let’s see how much we can raise before 5pm on July 18, 2009 starting now.  At the sidewalk sale we will be asking for $2 for children to play a toss game for a prize. Wanna play a few games? Donate Now!  If you can make a donation of any size, we would greatly appreciate it!

Check out the recent debate on CNN regarding this issue.

We would like to acknowledge and thank our corporate contributors (Smith & Hawkins, J. Crew, Wal-Mart and Microsoft Corporation) for supporting our efforts to make a difference on this issue.   If you would like to become a corporate contributor, call Ablechild at 203-594-1700.

Thank you all for your continued support!

Respectfully,
Sheila Matthews

Scientology Labeled a Hate Group

May 20, 2009

The evil psychs finally strike back at the CCHR.

Original text:

SAN FRANCISCO, May 20 — Physicians gathering for the American Psychiatric Association annual meeting here were greeted with a noisy street protest by the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), an offshoot of the Church of Scientology.

From its earliest days in the 1950s, Scientologists have waged a campaign accusing the psychiatric profession of a range of abuses. Now conducted under the CCHR’s banner, the campaign currently portrays psychiatry as an “industry of death.”

Demonstrations like the one at this year’s meeting have become a fixture at the annual gatherings.

In this exclusive MedPage Today video report, APA President Nada Stotland, M.D., explains what it’s like for a medical society that has, as she put it, its own dedicated hate group — the impact on practicing psychiatrists, and how the group has responded.

Narconon in Norway

April 27, 2009

Narconon is having trouble setting up shop in Norway. The Health Department recently issued a report that was quite critical, and Narconon has been banned in at least one area. The report is largely in English.

New CCHR DVD Sent to Doctors

February 27, 2009

The Sydney Morning Herald has a story today about a new Scientology attack on psychiatrists which is being mailed to every doctor in Australia:

COMING to a doctor’s surgery near you: a sparky little DVD, saying “psychiatrists occupy the lowest rung of the medical profession”, has been dispatched to GPs across Australia.

The DVD says that psychiatrists are money-grubbing quacks who invent diseases so that they can become rich by prescribing drugs. Those evil dudes also kill 3000 people a month by prescribing psychotropic drugs, it says.

While Tom Cruise’s comely visage does not feature on the DVD, it is the product of that crazy bunch of shrink-hating thetans who were banished to Earth about 75 million years ago by a mean and nasty galactic ruler named Xenu. Well, that’s what the Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard claimed. And who says he wasn’t nuts?

Titled Making A Killing, The Untold Story Of Psychotropic Drugging, the DVD is put out by the Citizens Commission on Human Rights, which was established by the Church of Scientology.

You’ll recall a few years back Cruise, who likened psychiatry to “Nazi science”, had to apologise to the actress Brooke Shields after he criticised her for taking anti-depressants for post-natal depression. Vitamins and exercise would snap her out of it, Cruise said.

Describing the information as “riveting”, the DVD’s covering letter implores doctors to: “Watch it, share it and please act on it.”

CCHR’s chief in Australia, Shelley Wilkins, who is off to Los Angeles this weekend to celebrate the commission’s 40th anniversary, denied it was run by the Church of Scientology. Shelley, a scientologist, was “proud” that CCHR had been established by the church, but it was a separate organisation devoted to exposing the evils of psychiatry, she said.

Sure it is.   How can a tax exempt religion get away with trying to destroy a profession?  Can you imagine a Baptist war on plumbers? A Lutheran smackdown on dentistry?   Orthodox Jews vs. Fed Ex?

Evil Psychs Behind 9/11

February 4, 2009

According to L. Ron Hubbard, psychiatrists are the most evil people in the galaxy.  They are behind the worst atrocities ever committed.  Yes, the psychs caused the holocaust.  They are to blame for Jonestown.  And here’s two idiots talking about the psychs controlling Bin Laden.

Why is this cult tax exempt?  And why on Earth would Axiom 10 use DMCA to take down this clip from YouTube?  Don’t they want people to know how evil the psychs are?  They are doing a public disservice when they take down this important clip.

Second Chance Flap

January 28, 2009

Wow!  Is this the biggest story a Scientology front group has ever produced?  Second Chance not only blows town without paying their bills but they take with them violent criminals they were housing.  This has the potential to really resonate with people who pay little attention to Miscavige’s safepointing projects.

A newspaper article states the inmates have been moved to other jurisdictions but gives no details on where or whom.  But it does give more background on the troubles the front group has been having.

City of Albuquerque officials had given Second Chance until Jan. 31 to vacate the building. The city terminated the program’s lease for violations that include housing violent offenders and making unauthorized changes to the building.

The facility appeared deserted Saturday, with just three cars in the parking lot, gates ajar, and a few employees inside. There was no sign of any inmates. From the entryway, items could be seen heaped into shopping carts.

Albuquerque Chief Public Safety Officer Pete Dinelli said Saturday that he learned from a Journal reporter that the old jail building appeared deserted. So he sent police officers there to see what was going on.

“If there’s free access to the building, I want to know about it,” Dinelli said. “If it’s abandoned, we need to secure our asset. And I want to know if there has been damage to the building.”

The city is still considering whether to go forward with a civil lawsuit against Second Chance, he said. An audit shows Second Chance may owe as little as $20,000 or as much as $100,000 in water bills and unpaid rent.

Someone might want to look into these reference materials Scientology touts.

Scientology Exploits Tragedy

November 28, 2008

Time and time again, Scientology has exploited an event to promote their cult and their agenda.  We saw it after 9/11 and whenever and wherever disaster strikes.

In this case from 2007, the CCHR exploited a school shooting to protest the use of psychiatric drugs — even before there was any indication they were used.

FOX News should be commended for calling this exploitation tasteless.

How any “church” is allowed to keep its tax-exempt status while spending a fortune trying to destroy an established medical field is beyond me.

UPDATE:

Tom Newton wants to understand Scientology’s exploitative nature better.  I’d suggest looking at the latest documents from Wikileaks.   There you can discover that all of Scientology’s front groups, including the CCHR, are meant to recruit new members to this disturbed organization.

Scientology’s Second Chance Lies

August 9, 2008

Here’s a local news report from Albuquerque, New Mexico exposing Scientology’s lies that their drug rehab program has a 90% success rate.

Fan Mail from Canada, Eh

August 6, 2008

Take off you hosers.  I got a lovely e-mail from the Great White North I wanted to share with you:

About 10 years ago (give or take) A&E aired a show about Scientology and invited people to an online chat room to discuss the episode.

At first it was tough to pick out the Scientologists, but that didn’t last.

Before long they were accusing everyone even remotely associated with the show of being drunks, wife beaters etc.

That was when first got my attention and I’ve been researching them in a small way for years.

Fast forward to the beginning of August.

There is a three-day open-air country music concert held just outside Camrose, Alberta, during the August long weekend called Big Valley Jamboree.

It’s about 2 hours from _________ and we travel there every year.

I’ve been going six years now always have a great time (you haven’t really partied until it’s been with hillbillies) … with one hiccup.

Never in a thousand years would I expect to see my 14-year-old nephew getting a “stress test” at BVJ .
I nearly swallowed my tongue.

He and the rest of my family have been hearing me talk about this cult for years and yet … there he sat, listening the nice Scientologist tell him that “it seems his family stresses him out.”

The only thing that stopped a very ugly scene was the realization gained after reading your material … these people are victims too.

After a few minutes I went over to talk to the fellows. They wanted to show me their products and asked if I was feeling any stress in my life.

I said I would rather talk about Scientology. He was a little surprised.

I was very nice … he was very nice, but started to use that weird double-speak that we see over and over again on these videos. He said he hadn’t heard about “Fair Game” (I realize the name has changed) and that all the stuff on the Internet was a “web” of lies. He then began answering direct questions with questions of his own.

I told the fella that he seemed like an intelligent, kind man and that he should maybe look into some of the information that was being put forward. That’s all.

I can only hope more people did the same.

As my dad used to say …. “If one person calls you as asshole, ignore it. If two people call you an asshole … that’s their opinion, but if three people call you an asshole, you better start looking in the mirror … ‘cuz you might be an asshole.” (I don’t think these people are necessarily assholes … but you get the idea … the more people that talk to them in a rational, caring manner the more hope that they start doubting their beliefs.)

As soon as I left the booth I told everyone I ran into at the concert about the “stress test” and Scientology. (There are 25,000 people there per day for three days. I wonder if they thought rednecks were easy pickings.)

The conversation was enough to completely convince me that 1) they are victims 2) I will be showing up at the next protest and 3) I am going to write a letter to the people who organize BJV and the major sponsors.

Just wanted to let you know that you are fighting the good fight and between xenutv and anonymous, the word is really getting out there.

Thanks for the great report.  It’s good to see the word spreading.

Let’s make sure Bob and Doug MacKenzie don’t get recruited at one of these events.
