omg. great journalism. i feel so sorry for this woman. reminds me a bit of dan murnan… odhran fortune and so many other vulnerable people who were lured into the cult (often at a young age) and have been robbed of a large part of their lives.. poor dan.. he looks really unwell in his youtube vids lately i genuinely hope he finds the courage to leave someday.

  2. Benjamin Cisco Says:

Wow! There are so many issues and Nathan and Maureen get a lot of them across in a short time. Labor violations. Child abuse. Family disconnection. Enslavement. You know, typical cult stuff.

Thanks for posting this for all to see Mark.

One of the best series of reports I’ve ever seen on Scientology. Also, extremely bold coming from a local news station. Excellent work, Nathan Baca. You too, Mark 🙂

  4. Dissenting Voice Says:

Next they’ll be covering the IRS exemption? Holy moly. I’m genuinely impressed with KESQ.

    Fun fact:

25,000 Church members in America out of roughly 300,000,000 Americans is fewer than 1 in 10,000.

KESQ and Nathan Baca did a great coverage of Scientology. I understand Youtube is convenient, but as a courtesy and to show our appreciation we should *at least* provide a link to KESQ’s Scientology coverage:

We wouldn’t want to penalize KESQ by redirecting well-deserved traffic to Youtube only.

man! this guy is digging deep!!!!!

  7. Mike Says:

They are actually following the story. I’m very impressed, especially considering that their format is apparently a four-minute segment, which makes it very hard to do anything ‘in depth’, to use the words that all newscasters love. Has Miscavige been interviewed since the Koppel piece in the 90s? I think he’ll probably never be on TV again, except maybe in court.

    “…except maybe in court.”

  9. Artoo45 Says:

I’m stunned that this little station has done more to reveal the reality of life in the cult than any US Network to date. Go Nathan Baca! Go KESQ! And I thought that 2005 was the Summer of Entheta.

  10. Xchidna Says:

Nathan Baca wins the epic troll award for 2009. Keep it up!

  11. Rena Says:

I’m imeprssed you should think of something like that
